7 Best ListingPro Alternatives in 2026

For ListingPro owners weighing a move: compared on who patches the software, what the AI really does, how each one earns, and software prices, renewal terms and separately billed usage.

Laptop showing a local-business directory beside three printed directory page layouts, the top sheet held by an orange paper clip

ListingPro still works, and its release notes are easy to read. Its last four releases, from August 2025 to 19 August 2026, each list security fixes first, and two of them list nothing else. Its vendor pages named no AI feature as of 25 October 2026. One owner weighing a move in January 2026 put the worry plainly: "I'm not a dev so would love as sturdy a tool as possible without me needing to maintain it so much."

Our pick: LocusPilot Directory Builder is the best ListingPro alternative for a local-business directory you would rather not patch yourself: it hosts the site and writes the review analysis and guides for you. Listeo combines AI search, listing chat and review highlights in a WordPress theme, and GeoDirectory or Directorist suit owners who want a plugin on any theme. If listing owners pay you through plans on the site, a WordPress option or ListingPro fits better.

What matters when you leave ListingPro?

Five things decide a move off ListingPro: who maintains the software, what the AI does and who pays for it, how listings stay current, how the site earns, and what a year costs. In one owner's January 2026 thread, two bugs went onto the vendor's backlog. The owner said support suggested "to update the code manually to core files and upload them with every theme update" (r/Wordpress). As questions:

  1. Who patches the software: you, on your own WordPress hosting, or the vendor?
  2. What does the AI actually do, and whose API key pays for it?
  3. How do listings get in, and how do they stay current?
  4. Does it earn from paid plans sold on the site, or from leads and featured slots you invoice?
  5. What does a year cost once support renewals are counted, and what do you keep if you leave?

Best for local-business directories

1. LocusPilot Directory Builder

LocusPilot Directory Builder replaces the theme, the plugins and the hosting with one subscription. You fill in a short form: a niche from 4,274 Google Business categories, a city, your brand and a design. The engine then pulls the businesses itself, so there is no import file to map and no plugin to update.

Where ListingPro leaves listing content to you and your listing owners, LocusPilot writes on top of each listing. It reads every business's recent reviews and sums up praise themes, watch-outs and who the business suits, then ranks listings on published weights. Larger directories also get best-of pages, comparisons, a glossary and a guide library. The analysis and guides are AI-written and editable, and the guides carry an author byline you create, not a real person.

  • Hosting, updates and lead capture included, with nothing to patch
  • Review analysis on every listing, labeled "based on limited reviews" where reviews are thin
  • Rankings on published weights: review sentiment 28%, star rating 26%, review volume 20% by default
  • Quote form on every listing, with calls, WhatsApp taps and website clicks tracked
LocusPilot directory wizard estimate step: 159 veterinarian businesses found in Austin TX, build 20.9 credits shown as 0 on the first build, monthly refresh 7.95 credits
Step 3 of the directory wizard: the listing count and exact credit price, before anything is built.
LocusPilot ranking weights panel with default sliders: review sentiment 28%, Google rating 26%, review volume 20%, review recency 14%, profile completeness 12%
The ranking weights are published on every directory and can be changed in settings.

Not for: directories where listing owners pay you through the site. LocusPilot takes no payments; you sell and invoice featured slots and banners yourself. It is also not for non-English directories, owners who need to host the site elsewhere, or more than 1,000 listings, a cap that covers all cities. A directory takes up to 15 cities in one state (another state means a second directory); each added city costs 2 credits plus 0.1 per estimated listing.

Why directory operators choose LocusPilot

This is great btw you are already way ahead of my other directory its crazy.

TTrajah B., LocusPilot customer
  • You can inspect a finished build before paying: Denver Veterinarian has 184 listings and cost about 23 credits to build.
  • A 100-listing directory takes 15 credits to build and 5 per monthly refresh, out of the 30 credits Operator includes each month.
  • One niche directory LocusPilot built and runs logged 5,230 clicks and 801,035 impressions in Google Search Console from 5 July to 24 October 2026. That is one site, not a forecast.

ListingPro wins on upfront price, on taking money through the site, and on what you keep if you leave. LocusPilot runs the hosting, refreshes and writing for you; on WordPress you run that stack yourself or hire help. If paid listing plans fund your directory, weigh the first group first.

Best for multi-city directories on any theme

2. GeoDirectory

GeoDirectory is a directory plugin from AyeCode, free on WordPress.org with more than 10,000 active installs. Because it is a plugin, it runs on almost any theme. That is the opposite of ListingPro, where the theme and its required plugins are the directory.

GeoDirectory fits ListingPro owners who want to stay on WordPress and grow. The free core covers one city: Location Manager adds more, and Pricing Manager adds paid listings, each from $49 a year. Every add-on together costs $139 a year for one site or $229 for unlimited sites. Its Directory Converter does not list ListingPro, so plan the move as a CSV import.

Strengths

  • Free core on WordPress.org, rated 4.8 from 716 reviews as of 25 October 2026
  • Runs on any theme, so a redesign does not mean a rebuild
  • CSV import and export of listings, categories and reviews in the free core
  • Plugins keep working if you stop renewing, minus updates and support

Watch out for

  • The free core covers one city; more cities and paid listings are add-ons
  • Hosting, updates and security patches stay your job
  • No AI content or directory-generation feature named on the vendor pages checked on 25 October 2026

Pick GeoDirectory if you want to stay on WordPress and expect more than one city; our GeoDirectory alternatives comparison covers what its add-ons cost over time.

3. Directorist

Directorist is a WordPress directory plugin from wpWax, with a free core that already allows unlimited listings and several directory types on one site. Directorist AI drafts a directory's structure and fields from a prompt during setup. The AI Search extension, released in May 2026, adds meaning-based search; it runs on the vendor's servers, needs no customer model API key, and costs $29 a year for one site or comes included in memberships.

The earning features are paid. Paid listings, payments, claims and bookings need a plan: $129 a year for one site at list price ($116 on sale, 25 October 2026), $169 for five or $219 for unlimited. The Listing Importer extension pulls businesses from Google Maps through your own Places API key, up to 60 per run.

Strengths

  • Unlimited listings and multiple directory types in the free core
  • AI Search runs on Directorist's servers: no OpenAI key, no per-search billing
  • Google Maps import with reviews through the Listing Importer extension
  • Lifetime licenses from $379 instead of yearly renewals

Watch out for

  • Paid listings, payments, claims and bookings sit behind a paid plan
  • Directorist AI sets up structure and fields; the vendor does not say it writes listings
  • Google Maps import needs your own Places API billing, 60 listings per run

Pick Directorist if you want to keep WordPress and get AI search without managing an API key, after reading where Directorist's paid plans start to bite.

Best for a theme swap with recent releases

4. MyListing

MyListing is the ThemeForest directory theme from 27collective, and the closest like-for-like move from ListingPro: one theme, one license, with paid listings, claims and promoted listings built in. Unlike ListingPro, MyListing shipped six versions in 2026, including v3.0 on 2 September with a new search index and v3.1 on 26 September.

MyListing needs Elementor and WooCommerce, and recurring plans need the separately sold WooCommerce Subscriptions. On ThemeForest on 25 October 2026, the Regular license was $119 with six months of support (twelve for $40.13 more) and the Extended license $1,199. Envato's Regular license covers end products "end users are not charged for", and neither vendor says whether paid listings count, so ask before charging.

Strengths

  • Six releases in 2026, the latest on 26 September
  • Unlimited listing types with their own fields, search forms and layouts
  • Promoted listings and paid claims through WooCommerce
  • ThemeForest rating of 4.80 from 1,020 reviews as of 25 October 2026

Watch out for

  • Whether paid listings need the $1,199 Extended license is not stated; ask before charging
  • Elementor and WooCommerce required; recurring plans need WooCommerce Subscriptions
  • No built-in AI writing named on the vendor pages checked on 25 October 2026; AI only via Elementor's Angie and the free MCP plugin

Pick MyListing if you want another all-in-one theme from a team that shipped a major version in September 2026; its license questions get more room in our MyListing alternatives roundup.

5. HivePress

HivePress is a free WordPress plugin for directory and listing sites, usually paired with ListingHive, its free theme. The free version can already charge listing owners for submissions, featured spots and claims through WooCommerce, which covers what most ListingPro directories sell.

HivePress suits a ListingPro owner who wants to rebuild cheaply and is comfortable in WordPress, or has a developer. The bundle of all extensions and themes costs $99 a year, or $199 for unlimited sites; individual extensions cost $29 to $39 once per site. Bringing listings across needs the $29 Import extension, which reads CSV files. Its AI is a support assistant, not a content tool.

Strengths

  • Charges for listings, featured spots and claims in the free version
  • Free ListingHive theme to start from
  • Rated 4.9 from 221 reviews on WordPress.org as of 25 October 2026
  • 30-day money-back guarantee on paid extensions

Watch out for

  • CSV import is a $29 extension
  • No Google Maps import named on the vendor pages checked on 25 October 2026
  • Payments run through WooCommerce; recurring memberships need WooCommerce Subscriptions

Pick HivePress if you want to rebuild on WordPress for close to nothing and can handle the setup.

6. Listeo

Listeo is a WordPress directory and booking theme from Purethemes. It ships AI search and an AI chat that find listings, AI Review Highlights that turn reviews into short pros and cons, and a Google Places importer. The search and chat run on your own OpenAI, Gemini or Mistral key, so model costs land on you.

Listeo is sold on purethemes.net as a one-time theme license: $119 list for one site ($89 on sale, 25 October 2026), $149 for three or $449 for ten, with 12 months of support. Renewal is $59 a year per the pricing FAQ; the terms say 50% of the product price and reserve discretion over updates. Version 2.2.4 shipped on 18 October 2026.

Strengths

  • AI search, AI chat and review pros and cons built in
  • Google Places import; the vendor puts 100 businesses at about $2-4 in Google API fees
  • Free listing migration offered to owners of competing themes
  • Built-in bookings with commissions

Watch out for

  • AI search and chat need your own model API key and its costs
  • Lifetime updates are marketed, but the terms reserve discretion over updates
  • Voluntary refunds within 7 days for qualifying defects; statutory rights unaffected

Pick Listeo if you want a one-time theme license plus AI features that ListingPro's vendor pages do not name.

Best for listings kept as plain WordPress posts

7. Business Directory Plugin

Business Directory Plugin, from Strategy11, adds a directory to the WordPress theme you already have through shortcodes and widgets. Its listings are ordinary WordPress posts, and deleting the plugin leaves them in your database. The free core has no listing limit and takes paid listings through Stripe or Authorize.net, which carries no Strategy11 fee beyond the gateway's own charges.

Basic is $99 for the first year and renews at $149; Google Maps and ZIP or city search start at Pro ($149, then $249), and claim listings need Elite ($249, then $349). Stripe adds a 3% vendor fee on Lite, Basic and expired licenses; only an active Pro or Elite license removes it. The vendor pages checked on 25 October 2026 named no AI feature or native Google Maps importer; CSV import and export is documented.

Strengths

  • Listings stay in the WordPress database if the plugin is removed
  • Works with any theme through shortcodes and widgets
  • No listing limit in the free core
  • 14-day money-back guarantee

Watch out for

  • Introductory prices renew at $149, $249 or $349; Stripe adds 3% without an active Pro or Elite license
  • Maps need Pro, and claim listings need Elite
  • No AI feature or native Google Maps importer named on vendor pages checked 25 October 2026; CSV import and export documented

Business Directory PluginFree core; $99 Basic or $149 Pro for maps (introductory)$149 Basic or $249 Pro

Free plugin cores cost least in software fees, and ListingPro's $69 is the cheapest paid theme license here. Hosting is not priced, so this is not a total-cost ranking. LocusPilot's 30 monthly credits are shared across your directories. One monthly refresh of a 1,000-listing directory uses 50, so large directories need top-ups (from $0.85 a credit) or a bigger plan.

How do you move a directory off ListingPro?

Moving off ListingPro is safest with the old site live, and patched to 2.9.12, until the new one has been checked.

  1. Export a sample with ListingPro's Export Listings option (added in version 2.8) and check its format and fields against the new tool's importer. We have not tested this export. Keep a full WordPress backup.
  2. List what earns today: paid plans, ad campaigns and claimed listings. Recurring Stripe or PayPal plans will not move by themselves.
  3. Check that your Google Maps API key and Stripe connection still work. One owner found both disconnected after a few months away.
  4. Build the new directory beside the old one: import the CSV into a WordPress tool, ask about Listeo's free migration, or let LocusPilot build the same niche and city from public data.
  5. Map your best-performing URLs to their new pages and test forms and leads. LocusPilot has not published redirect controls for old URLs; keep the old site live on its own address or ask before you move the domain. Cancel only when everything works.

When should you stay with ListingPro?

When paid plans already pay the bills.

Keep ListingPro if listing owners already pay you through it. Its own checkout handles one-time and recurring plans, paid claims and ad campaigns through Stripe, PayPal, 2Checkout or bank transfer. ThemeForest sells it only under the Regular License, for end products "end users are not charged for". ListingPro does not say whether paid listings count, so ask if unsure. Keep it patched to 2.9.12.

Stay too if you run cloned directories fed by scraped data: one builder chose ListingPro because "It tolerates bulk data It doesn't fight automation It's cheap to clone" (February 2026).

How we checked: We asked ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini for ListingPro alternatives three times each, through their APIs, on 25 October 2026. GeoDirectory, Directorist, HivePress and MyListing came up in all nine answers, Listeo in seven and Business Directory Plugin in two. The shortlist is mostly WordPress; our Brilliant Directories and Directify pages cover hosted rivals. Prices come from vendor pages saved that day. LocusPilot is our product.

Frequently asked questions

Is ListingPro still being updated?
ListingPro's latest release is version 2.9.12, dated 19 August 2026 on its ThemeForest page (the vendor's own log lagged at 2.9.11 on 25 October 2026). The last four releases each lead with security fixes: 2.9.12 and 2.9.10 (November 2025) list nothing else, while 2.9.11 and 2.9.9 add bug fixes. The last release that listed new additions was 2.9.7, in April 2025.
Does ListingPro have AI features?
ListingPro named no AI feature on its homepage, pricing page, pre-sale FAQ, add-on store or update log as of 25 October 2026. Listeo and Directorist are the alternatives here with AI built in, and LocusPilot writes review analysis and guides for each directory.
Can I move my ListingPro listings to another tool?
ListingPro has had Export Listings since version 2.8; we have not tested its format, so export a sample and map it first. GeoDirectory, Directorist and Business Directory Plugin import CSV in their free versions, HivePress through a $29 extension, and MyListing through the free WP All Import (no General Repeater fields such as Restaurant Menu). Listeo offers free migration. LocusPilot is a fresh build from public data, so paid plans and accounts do not carry over.
Is there a free alternative to ListingPro?
ListingPro lists no free version; the theme was $69 on ThemeForest on 25 October 2026. HivePress, Directorist, GeoDirectory and Business Directory Plugin all have free WordPress plugins, and HivePress can charge for listings even in its free version. Each one needs your own WordPress hosting. LocusPilot starts at $29 a month on Operator.
Which theme is closest to ListingPro?
MyListing and Listeo are the closest ListingPro alternatives in shape: each is a single WordPress directory theme with paid listings and claims built in. MyListing sells through ThemeForest from $119. Listeo lists at $119 on its vendor's site ($89 on sale, 25 October 2026) and adds AI search, chat and review summaries that run on your own API keys.
Is LocusPilot cheaper than ListingPro?
ListingPro has a lower base software price: $69 once versus LocusPilot's Operator plan at $29 a month, which includes hosting and 30 credits. Total cost depends on hosting, maintenance, support and LocusPilot usage. A 100-listing directory uses 15 credits to build (none the first time) and 5 per monthly refresh; a 1,000-listing directory uses 50 per refresh and needs top-ups from $0.85 a credit.

Which ListingPro alternative is right for you?

  • Leads and featured slots, no theme to patch: LocusPilot
  • WordPress, with a plugin that outlives your theme: GeoDirectory or Directorist
  • A plain directory on your current theme: Business Directory Plugin
  • Several listing types with their own layouts: MyListing
  • AI search and review summaries in a theme: Listeo
  • The smallest budget, setup by you: HivePress
  • Listing owners already pay you on the site: Stay with ListingPro

Leave your ListingPro site running while you test: LocusPilot builds a new directory from public business data, not a copy of your site. First build uses no credits (once per account); no refunds, so budget at least one month at $29.
