6 Best MyListing Alternatives in 2026

Compared on the licence question for paid listings, support, how businesses pay you, lock-in and first-year cost.

This page is for MyListing owners with two doubts. The first is the licence: the $119 Regular licence covers a site "which end users are not charged for", the Extended licence costs $1,199, and we could not verify which one a paid-listing directory needs. The second is direction: "It seem like its going out of support slowly and many people recommend getting Voxel," a new buyer wrote on r/Wordpress in December 2024. MyListing has since shipped six releases in 2026.

Our pick: LocusPilot Directory Builder is the best MyListing alternative for a local-business directory that earns from featured slots, category exclusivity and banners you sell and invoice yourself, with hosting and AI-written listing analysis included; directories cannot be exported. Listeo is the closest theme to move to, and GeoDirectory, Directorist or HivePress keep paid listings on WordPress. If businesses must pay at a checkout on your site, or you run several listing types, pick a WordPress option or stay with MyListing.

What matters when you leave MyListing?

Five things decide it: the licence, support, how businesses pay, theme tie-in and first-year cost. One r/Wordpress reply named the risk of choosing again: "Using either one, you'll get locked in. If you ever need to change the theme, you'll have to start over" (June 2025).

  1. Which licence or plan covers a site where businesses pay you, in the vendor's own words?
  2. How long does support last, and what happens once it ends?
  3. How do listing owners pay: a WooCommerce checkout, a built-in checkout, or an invoice from you?
  4. How tied is the directory to one theme and page builder?
  5. How much do you build and write yourself, and what does the first year cost?

Best for local-business directories

1. LocusPilot Directory Builder

LocusPilot Directory Builder is a hosted directory engine, so there is no theme, no WooCommerce and no page builder to keep updated. You fill in a short form: one of 4,274 Google Business categories, a city, your brand and a design. The engine finds the businesses itself.

LocusPilot adds AI-written content you can edit on top of the listings. Each listing gets an analysis of its recent reviews, with praise themes, watch-outs and who the business suits, and rankings follow a published methodology. Directories with enough businesses also get best-of pages and a guide library under an author persona, a byline you create rather than a real person. Revenue comes from featured placement, category exclusivity and banners, which you sell and invoice yourself.

  • Review analysis written for every listing, marked when a business has few reviews
  • Up to 15 cities in one state per directory (another state means a second directory), each added for 2 credits plus 0.1 per estimated listing
  • Featured slots are labelled and kept out of the earned ranking
  • Hosting, updates, quote forms and phone-link, WhatsApp and website click tracking come with the subscription

LocusPilot Add locations dialog adding Round Rock and Cedar Park to an Austin directory: about 58 businesses for 9.8 credits
Adding two cities to an Austin directory: about 58 listings for 9.8 credits, priced before you confirm.

Not for: checkouts for listing owners, mixed listing types such as events and rentals, more than 1,000 listings, languages other than English, or owners who want the code. LocusPilot does not refund, so budget at least one month's plan for a test.

What LocusPilot can show you

Wow - you guys are on top of things - love it - thanks so much! You're the best

  • A cafe directory we built and run on LocusPilot drew 5,230 clicks and 801,035 impressions in Google Search Console from 5 July to 24 October 2026, average position 7.4. One site is a data point, not a forecast.
  • Credits are priced up front: 5 per build plus 0.10 per listing, then 0.05 per listing for each refresh, so 100 listings take 15 credits to build and 5 a month to refresh.
  • You can click through the Austin Landscapers demo: 255 listings, about 31 credits to build.

2. Listeo

Listeo is a WordPress directory and booking theme from Purethemes, and the closest swap for a MyListing site. Like MyListing, it creates unlimited listing types with their own fields and search forms, and it bills listing owners through WooCommerce: paid packages, per-submission fees, ad campaigns and paid claims.

Listeo is sold on purethemes.net by number of sites, one-time: $119 list for one site ($89 on sale, 25 October 2026), with three sites listed at $357 ($149 on sale) and ten at $1,190 ($449). Every plan has every feature and 12 months of support. Purethemes offers free listing migration, but its migration pages name HivePress, Directorist and ListingPro, not MyListing, so ask first.

Strengths

  • Unlimited listing types, as on MyListing
  • Free listing migration offered (MyListing not named; ask first)
  • Google Places importer and AI review pros and cons included
  • Version 2.2.4 released on 18 October 2026

Watch out for

  • Buy on purethemes.net; the ThemeForest version is a limited package
  • AI search and chat run on your own OpenAI, Gemini or Mistral key
  • Support renewal is $59 a year per the pricing FAQ but 50% of the product price per the terms; refunds cover defects only, within 7 days

Pick Listeo if you want to keep a theme with listing types and WooCommerce packages, bought directly from its maker.

3. GeoDirectory

GeoDirectory is a directory plugin from AyeCode, free on WordPress.org, and it works with any theme and with the common page builders. GeoDirectory answers the lock-in worry raised in MyListing threads: the directory lives in a plugin, so a new look later does not have to mean a new directory.

Charging businesses takes the Pricing Manager add-on, $49 a year for one site, which adds paid and recurring listing plans, featured listings and pay-to-claim. Every add-on together is $139 a year for one site or $229 for unlimited sites, and the plugins keep working if you stop renewing. MyListing is not named in GeoDirectory's published converter list, so confirm compatibility or plan a mapped CSV import.

Strengths

  • Works with any theme and the common page builders
  • Payments through its GetPaid plugin, with WooCommerce optional
  • Rated 4.8 from 716 reviews on WordPress.org, checked 25 October 2026
  • Several listing types through the Custom Post Types add-on, inside the $139 bundle

Watch out for

  • The free core covers one city; Location Manager adds more
  • MyListing is not named in its published converter list (25 October 2026)
  • No AI content features named on the vendor pages checked on 25 October 2026; hosting and patches stay with you

Pick GeoDirectory if you want paid listings on WordPress without tying the directory to one theme again; our GeoDirectory alternatives guide covers where its owners go when they outgrow it.

4. Directorist

Directorist is a WordPress directory plugin from wpWax. Its free core runs unlimited directory types on one site, each with its own fields, filters and layout. For a MyListing owner with places and events side by side, that is the nearest free match to listing types.

Charging businesses takes paid extensions such as Pricing Plans, which cover listing fees, featured listings and recurring subscriptions. They are sold singly or as a membership: $129 a year list for one site ($116 on sale, 25 October 2026). Five sites list at $169 and unlimited at $219, or lifetime from $379. The PayPal gateway extension is free, and Stripe and Authorize.net come with every membership.

Strengths

  • Unlimited directory types in the free core
  • Stripe, PayPal and Authorize.net in every paid plan
  • AI Search, a paid extension at $29 a year, runs on Directorist's servers with no API key
  • Lifetime licenses from $379

Watch out for

  • Charging businesses needs paid extensions, single or in a membership
  • Google Maps import needs your own Places API key and billing
  • WordPress hosting and updates stay your job

Pick Directorist if your MyListing site depends on more than one listing type and you want to rebuild that for free before paying; why owners leave Directorist is worth reading first.

5. HivePress

HivePress is a free WordPress plugin for directory and listing sites, usually paired with its free ListingHive theme. It takes payments through WooCommerce, as MyListing does, and the free version can already bill businesses to list, to be featured or to claim a listing.

HivePress suits a MyListing owner who wants to retest a paid-listing model without paying for plugins first; hosting is separate. When you need more, every extension and theme is $99 a year, or $199 for unlimited sites; single extensions cost $29 to $39, one-time per site. Recurring plans need the $39 Memberships add-on plus WooCommerce Subscriptions.

Strengths

  • Free version bills businesses through WooCommerce
  • Free ListingHive theme to start from
  • Every extension and theme for $99 a year
  • Rated 4.9 from 221 reviews on WordPress.org, checked 25 October 2026

Watch out for

  • Bulk CSV import is sold as a separate $29 extension
  • The vendor pages we checked on 25 October 2026 name no Google Maps importer
  • Recurring plans need WooCommerce Subscriptions

Pick HivePress if you want to keep charging businesses on WordPress and pay no plugin licence fee until the model works.

6. ListingPro

ListingPro is a WordPress directory theme from Cridio Studio, sold on ThemeForest for $69 per site. Where MyListing hands payments to WooCommerce, ListingPro runs its own checkout. It handles one-time or recurring plans through Stripe and PayPal, paid claims, ad campaigns and a lead form per listing.

ThemeForest sells ListingPro only under the Regular licence, for sites "which end users are not charged for". The vendor does not say whether paid listings count, so ask before you charge. Every release since April 2025 has been security and bug fixes with no new features (update log); ThemeForest lists the latest, 2.9.12, on 19 August 2026. ListingPro has no separate listing types, and we found no AI features on the vendor pages checked on 25 October 2026.

Strengths

  • $69 for the theme and its bundled plugins
  • Own checkout with recurring Stripe and PayPal plans
  • Paid claims, ad campaigns and lead forms built in
  • Appointment booking, events and deals included

Watch out for

  • Sold only under the Regular licence; the vendor does not say whether paid listings count
  • No new features since April 2025, only security and bug fixes
  • One currency and no listing types; no AI feature named on the vendor pages checked on 25 October 2026

Pick ListingPro if you want an all-in-one theme that bills businesses without WooCommerce, once the licence question is settled; our ListingPro alternatives comparison looks at its release record in detail.

Does a paid-listing MyListing site need the Extended licence?

We could not verify whether your paid-listing setup needs Extended; ask Envato or 27collective for a written answer.

MyListing's Regular licence ($119) covers "a single end product which end users are not charged for", and the Extended licence ($1,199) covers one "which end users can be charged for" (ThemeForest item page, 25 October 2026). Envato's licence FAQ adds: "If your website requires money (whether upfront or a revenue share) from some or all users in order to use or access the item features as incorporated into the site, you'd need the Extended License."

The same FAQ says payment for a separate service or product does not need it. The open question is who counts as an end user: the visitors who browse for free, or the businesses that pay to be listed. Listing packages, promotions and paid claims are MyListing features, but neither Envato nor 27collective addresses paid-listing directories by name in anything we found, so we will not rule on it. Get Envato's or 27collective's answer in writing before you charge a business; either licence covers one site.

The alternatives sell differently: Listeo on purethemes.net by number of sites, GeoDirectory, Directorist and HivePress with paid listings as plan features, and ListingPro under the Regular licence only. LocusPilot is a subscription with no checkout for listing owners.

Is MyListing still being updated?

Yes: MyListing shipped six releases in 2026 by 25 October, against 15 in 2023, three in 2024 and four in 2025, per its changelog; counts include small fix releases. Both sides, by date:

Reddit users say Voxel comes from the same team; we did not find 27collective confirming that.

What does the first year cost for a paid-listing directory?

Most WordPress options cost less than LocusPilot in year one, unless MyListing needs the Extended licence. Figures: one directory on one site, USD, vendor pages on 25 October 2026; hosting and WooCommerce Subscriptions (needed by MyListing and HivePress for recurring billing) are left out.

ToolFirst yearWhat that covers
LocusPilot$348 base subscription (12 months of Operator at $29)30 credits a month and 2 directories; first build uses no credits (once per account); refreshes cost 0.05 credits per listing, so 1,000 listings refreshed monthly use 50 credits, 20 above the plan; extra credits from $0.85 each; hosting and lead capture included
MyListing$119 Regular or $1,199 Extended, one-offOne site, updates, 6 months of support (12-month extension listed at $93.63, $40.13 at purchase)
Listeo$119 list ($89 on sale, 25 October 2026), one-off for 1 siteEvery feature and 12 months of support; renewal $59 a year per the FAQ, 50% of the price per the terms
GeoDirectory$139 a yearAll add-ons for one site, Pricing Manager included ($49 a year alone)
Directorist$129 a year list ($116 on sale, 25 October 2026)All extensions for one site; single extensions also sold
HivePress$0, or $99 a yearFree core bills businesses through WooCommerce; the bundle adds every extension and theme
ListingPro$69 Regular, one-offOne site and 6 months of support (12-month extension listed at $49.88, $21.38 at purchase); Regular licence only, no Extended option

With the WordPress tools you run the server. Listeo's Google Places import and review pros and cons cover part of the setup, as do Directorist's AI setup and Maps importer; the guides and editorial pages stay yours to write. If your MyListing site needs the Extended licence, its first year is $1,199 before hosting.

How do you move a directory off MyListing?

Moving off MyListing is mostly a data job.

  1. Export your listings with WP All Export, which MyListing lists as an integration, one file per listing type.
  2. Check the import route on the new tool. Listeo offers free migration, but its migration pages do not name MyListing, so ask first. MyListing is not named in GeoDirectory's published converter list either, so confirm compatibility or plan a mapped CSV import. HivePress reads CSV through its $29 Import extension.
  3. LocusPilot is a fresh rebuild with no MyListing import: the engine builds the same niche and city from public business data. Matching businesses to your old listings and setting up their featured placements is manual, and owner accounts, reviews, media and billing arrangements do not transfer. Each LocusPilot directory publishes a corrections and removals policy, and you can disable any listing.
  4. LocusPilot has not published redirect controls for old URLs; keep the old site live on its own address or ask before you move the domain.
  5. Test the new directory on a new domain or subdomain first, and tell paying businesses before any switch.

When should you stay with MyListing?

When the site already earns and the licence is settled.

MyListing is the one to keep when your directory mixes listing types, say places, events and rentals: it creates unlimited listing types, each with its own fields, search form and page layout.

Stay too if you hold the licence your setup needs and the site makes money. A rebuild costs more time than a licence, and the 2026 releases mean you are not sitting on frozen code.

How we checked: We used AI answers to find candidates, not to rank them: ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, three times each through their APIs on 25 October 2026, plus a licence-and-Voxel follow-up. GeoDirectory, Directorist, HivePress and ListingPro came up in all nine main answers and Listeo in eight. Prices and terms come from vendor and ThemeForest pages captured that day; we did not buy or test the competing tools, and LocusPilot is our product.

Frequently asked questions

Is MyListing being replaced by Voxel?
We found no vendor confirmation that Voxel is replacing MyListing as of 25 October 2026. MyListing's changelog shows six releases in 2026, including v3.0 on 2 September and v3.1 on 26 September. Reddit users have pointed to Voxel since December 2024; 27collective has not confirmed a link in anything we found.
Is there a free alternative to MyListing?
HivePress is the closest free alternative to MyListing for a paid-listing site, since its free version already bills businesses through WooCommerce. MyListing itself lists no free version, only three live demos. GeoDirectory and Directorist have free cores too, but charging businesses there needs GeoDirectory's Pricing Manager ($49 a year) or Directorist's paid extensions, sold singly or all together for $129 a year list.
Can I move my MyListing listings to another tool?
MyListing listings can leave as CSV or XML files, since the theme works with WP All Export and WP All Import. Listeo's free migration and GeoDirectory's published converter list both leave MyListing unnamed, so ask before relying on either. LocusPilot does not import listings; it rebuilds the directory from public business data, so owner accounts and reviews do not move across.
Does MyListing have AI features?
MyListing's AI comes through Elementor's Angie assistant: the free MyListing MCP plugin, added with v3.0 in September 2026, lets Angie manage listing types, listings and settings by chat. It needs an Elementor account, and the docs say plan limits or credits may apply. We found no built-in AI writing or listing generation in MyListing's docs or item page checked on 25 October 2026.
What happens when MyListing support runs out?
MyListing includes 6 months of support from 27collective, or 12 with an extension listed at $93.63 ($40.13 at purchase, 25 October 2026). After that, updates keep arriving but support stops, and Envato item support does not cover installation or customisation.
Which MyListing alternative supports several listing types?
Listeo is the closest match to MyListing here: it creates unlimited listing types with their own fields and search forms. GeoDirectory gets there with its Custom Post Types add-on ($49 a year, or inside the $139 bundle), and Directorist's free core runs several directory types on one site. HivePress uses category-specific fields instead of separate types. ListingPro has no separate listing types, and each LocusPilot directory covers one niche.

Which MyListing alternative is right for you?

  • A local-business directory that sells featured slots and banners you invoice, built and hosted for you: LocusPilot
  • Several listing types on WordPress, starting fresh: Listeo, or GeoDirectory with Custom Post Types
  • Paid listings in a plugin, on whatever theme you like: GeoDirectory or Directorist
  • Charging businesses with no plugin licence fee up front: HivePress
  • Several listing types, and the licence already settled: Stay with MyListing

First build uses no credits (once per account); no refunds. Run one paid test directory before you touch the MyListing install; it costs that month's subscription.
